1. General

This privacy policy informs you about which personal data is processed when using the "AquaEQ" app and when visiting the associated website aquaeq.de, for what purpose this occurs, and what rights you have in this regard.

2. What data is processed in the app?

When using AquaEQ, the following data is processed:

  • Account data: The email address and a password of your choice that you provide during registration.
  • Usage data: All content you enter yourself in the app — e.g. tanks, measured water parameters, stocking information, maintenance entries, and custom target values.

No location data, contacts, photos, or device identifiers are collected. The app contains no advertising and no third-party tracking.

3. Purpose of processing

The data is processed exclusively to provide the app's core function: the secure storage and cross-device synchronization of your tank data under your personal account.

4. Legal basis

Processing is based on Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR, as it is necessary for the performance of the usage agreement (provision of the app's functions).

5. Where is the app data stored?

Data is stored via the Google Firebase service (provider: Google Ireland Limited or Google LLC). The database is set up on server infrastructure within the EU (Europe region). Sign-in (Firebase Authentication) may, for technical reasons, run via Google infrastructure outside the EU. Google acts as a data processor in this regard.

Each user account has its own, technically separate data area that only the respective account holder can access.

6. Retention period

Your data is stored for as long as your account exists. You can permanently and irrevocably delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account).

7. Disclosure to third parties

Your data is not disclosed to third parties, with the exception of the technical data processors named in this policy (Google/Firebase for the app, see section 5; GoatCounter and Formspree for the website, see section 9).

8. Your rights

As a data subject, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR) — you can download your data as a file at any time via the export function in the app.
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR) — possible at any time directly in the app.
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority

For inquiries regarding these rights, please contact: aquameterapp@gmail.com

9. Data processing on this website (aquaeq.de)New

In addition to the app, when you visit this website (aquaeq.de) we process the following data via embedded third-party services:

Traffic analysis with GoatCounter

This website uses the analytics service GoatCounter for anonymous statistical evaluation of visitor numbers (provider: GoatCounter, Martin Tournoij, Netherlands). GoatCounter does not set cookies and does not collect personal data that can be attributed to individual persons. IP addresses are processed only briefly to calculate unique visits and are not stored permanently. No tracking of individual users across multiple pages or visits takes place. Due to this privacy-by-design approach, no cookie-banner consent is required for its use; the legal basis is our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR) in privacy-friendly traffic analysis.

Contact form with Formspree

For the contact form on this website, we use the service Formspree (provider: Formspree, Inc., USA). When you use the contact form, the data you enter (name, email address, subject, message text) is transmitted to Formspree's servers and forwarded from there to us by email in order to process your inquiry. This involves a transfer to the USA. Formspree states that it is designed to be GDPR-compliant. The legal basis for processing is Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR (processing your inquiry) or (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a functioning contact option). Your data is stored only for as long as necessary to process your inquiry.

10. Minors

AquaEQ is not specifically directed at children under the age of 16.

11. Changes to this privacy policy

This privacy policy may be updated as needed, for example due to changes in the app's functions, the website, or the legal situation. The current version is always available at this address.
